Richard is a licensed LPC-Associate (supervised by Stephen Arndt, LPC-S) providing in person and virtual counseling for couples, individuals, teens, and adults going through life transitions. Richard accepts Aetna and Cigna.
Richard holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, a PhD in Education, a Master’s degree in Music Education, and a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance. He served as a professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center for 15 years, and then directed the American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress education program in Chicago for 8 years before he and his wife returned to Texas to complete his Masters degree and in counseling. Richard is a compassionate counselor whose clients benefit from his years of experience serving others in his roles as educator, mentor, coach, leader, researcher, and author. He has taught disaster response and Psychological First Aid, and he has authored and co-authored articles and book chapters on disaster mental health response, and the mental health needs of disaster evacuees. In addition to counseling, Richard is also a performing musician and songwriter who strongly believes in the healing power of music.
Richard currently takes Aetna and Cigna. Non insurance sessions start at $125, with in-person and virtual options available. Sliding scale options are offered for those who qualify.
